We are pleased to announce the release of 2005 The Absurd. This release begins today (Tuesday 3/3) and will conclude as soon as the last 3-pack has been sold (we only produced 212 cases). This email will not be accompanied by a physical mailer and thus all ordering is being conducted via our online ordering system on our web site. Your User ID is your email address and your Password is realm (all lower case), unless you have previously logged in and personalized your password.
2005 The Absurd is a special blend derived from our best barrels. It was intended to be the most powerful and complex wine from our 2005 vintage portfolio and yet possesses the same elegance and finesse that we associate with our other 2005 vintage wines. This wine is a blend of 41% Cabernet Sauvignon (from the Beckstoffer To Kalon & Farella vineyards), 35% Petit Verdot (from the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane vineyard), and 24% Merlot (from the Dominus vineyard). 2005 The Absurd was bottled in May 2007 and so it has had the benefit of 22 months of bottle aging prior to being released.

We believe this wine is world-class in terms of quality considering the vineyard sources and our meticulous attention to detail in crafting this special blend. However, we have evidence to suggest the packaging for 2005 The Absurd is similarly world-class. For this special blend we produced three unique labels so each 3-pack has three different labels, even though each of the 3 bottles contains the same wine. All of the labels for 2005 The Absurd were hand-applied and each label contains a unique number (001 - 848) that is matched with corresponding bottles and wooden box so all 3 bottles and box are identically sequenced (001-848). We believe this gives new meaning to “hand-crafted” wine!
2005 The Absurd was selected by Communication Arts magazine (which is the premier resource for the visual communication trade - graphic designers, art directors, illustrators, photographers, etc) for two of its five Annuals – its 2008 Illustration Annual (for the labels) as well as its 2008 Graphic Design Annual (for the packaging and the labels). Considering that only 2% of the work entered from more than 40 countries is selected for the Graphic Design Annual, we believe this constitutes meaningful recognition.
We only produced 212 cases of The Absurd and it is being sold in 848 uniquely numbered 3-pack wooden boxes for $450. Consistent with wines Realm Cellars has produced from previous vintages, we are highly confident The Absurd will satisfy your senses (both olfactory and visual) once you have had a chance to enjoy the nectar inside the bottles and admire the packaging.
Consistent with the release of previous vintages, supply constraints require us to apply allocation limits to ensure the most equitable distribution of this wine. There is a “Wish List” feature that allows you to communicate interest in purchasing additional 3-packs. Orders will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis so we encourage you to respond in a timely manner.
